Lose Weight Tip One: Try to do a Fast
Ever watch the TV show Naked and Afraid? At the end of each show, they post the weight lost for each contestant. Most people during the 21 day challenge will lose between 10 – 30 pounds. Why? Because they never eat! They fast. Pure and simple. So to lose weight, don’t eat.
Try to fast (or NOT eat) for 12 hours.
An easy way to fast for 12 hours involves skipping breakfast. So if I eat dinner at 6:00 p.m (and don’t snack later at night) I will go to bed at 10:00 and continue my fast. When I wake up, I could eat breakfast right? But the truth is, I try to fast. This means I will skip breakfast and just have a cup of coffee or tea. This keeps my metabolism high. Then I will eat lunch at noon.
Question: Won’t I eat MORE for lunch to make up for skipping breakfast? Ha! Yes, when you first start out you probably will. The good thing is you have the rest of the day to burn off those calories. After about a week, however, your body becomes used to the new feeding schedule. I was on the Isagenix System and they would have you make a smoothie for breakfast. (I would add a banana to mine,lol). The point is, if you sleep for 8 hours at night, you really only have to fast for 4 hours, right?
Now, some people will not eat for one whole day during the week. Example: I was in pretty good shape but I had about ten pounds I could NEVER seem to lose, so a friend at the gym turned me on to the Isagenix system where I ended up losing 15 pounds. Here is the link: Isagenix System. True story. If you are serious and need to lose weight, try it. The Isagenix program DOES work but there are some things you should know about it that I didn’t know before I tried it. It costs $360 per month and you have to do one “Cleanse” day. Cleanse = fasting. I picked Thursday. So on Thursday, I did not eat the entire day (one small meal at night) and I drank water during the day. (You take the Isagenix metabolism pills during this one day.) Again, it was hard at first, but your body DOES get used to it. Again, this system works, but it’s not for everybody! (I used to tell myself, it’s like I am paying $4.00 for each meal.)
[$360/30 =$12 per day/3 = $4.00 per meal.] If you are SERIOUS about weight loss and you are willing to fast one day each week, try it. You will finally lose those stubborn ten pounds!
Lose Weight Tip Two: Exercise.
Find a way to make exercise a regular habit. Buy an exercise bike, park it somewhere you will see it and ride it every morning. Join a gym and take Zumba classes. Take your dog for a walk. Go bowling. Golf. Play soccer or basketball.
Aerobic exercise (like walking, running, swimming, etc) has been shown to cause major reductions in belly fat in numerous studies .
Another study found that exercise completely prevented people from re-gaining abdominal fat after weight loss, implying that exercise is particularly important during weight maintenance.
Exercise also leads to reduced inflammation, lower blood sugar levels and improvements in all the other metabolic abnormalities that are associated with excess abdominal fat.
Bottomline: You’ve got to get up and move. Sitting is the enemy.
Lose Weight Tip Three: Stop Drinking Alcohol
This tip alone can make a dramatic difference in your life! After one month of not drinking alcohol, I could feel myself losing “water weight”. Two months later and people were commenting on the weight I had lost. Please note: I had not changed anything else – just stopped drinking. There are many additional benefits to not drinking alcohol such as mental clarity and less arguments. Life seems to move better. But maybe that’s just me!
